I tried to keep a diary, and I did... on my shelf, where it was hardly used.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
Hrm.. No.

Did anyone close to you die?
Nope, thank (insert-high-ranking-deity-here).

What countries did you visit?
Haha stayed local in 2008.

What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Travel. Someone take me to Japan or Brazil please.

What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Heaps. It was a year of progress and firsts.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting a job, learning to cartwheel, improving my outlook on life.

What was your biggest failure?
Mechanics of Solids. :(

Did you suffer illness or injury?
A few injuries. I can now move my knees laterally. I also dislocated my right thumb and forefinger and busted the joint sac in that area.

What was the best thing you bought?
Vinyl Chucks, the entire collection of Fables so far,

Whose behavior merited celebration?
Luke Alexander's.

Whose behavior appalled you and made you depressed?
Sarah Palin. ZOMG.

Where did most of your money go?
Books, clothes, shoes, food, books, books, gig tickets, Wii, books, board games, books.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Every single gig I went to. British India, The Vines, Homebake etc.

What song/s will always remind you of 2008?
I don't know, there's a lot.

Compared to this time last year, are you:
a. Happier or sadder?
Happier.

b. Thinner or fatter?
Hrm, this is a strange one. Fatter, but fitter.

c. Richer or poorer?
Slightly richer by a few dollars.

What do you wish you'd done more of?
Study, saved more money, ran more kilometers.

What do you wish you'd done less of?
EAT! Exaggerate

How did you be spend Christmas?
Noche Buena with extended family. Christmas Day bbq with family, Luke and some friends.

Did you fall in love in 2008?
Yes, with the same person I fell in love with in 2007.

What was your favorite TV program?
Heroes, still. And Mythbusters. And Top Gear.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yep, can't really say "hate". More like, a toss between apathy and heavy disappointment.. with a sprinkling of disgust.

What was the best book you read?
Comic-wise, probably the entirety of Fables, with focus on the last war. Book-wise, I'd have to say I'm disappointed in Neil Gaiman's new work, or that maybe I'm outgrowing him. Clive Barker's The Great and Secret Show would have to suffice.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
Bluejuice (new local band), oldies Steely Dan and Jethro Tull (weird eh).

What did you want and get?
An interesting job and some money. Trips to the beach.

What did you want and not get?
A road trip.

Favorite film of this year?
The Dark Knight and Iron Man.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 21, I had a cheap, wild, alcohol-infused, F1-themed barbeque at a local CBD pub with a good friends. I also had terrible photos and excellent memories.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Fighting less and passing all subjects.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
A mix between casual and curiously experimental.

What kept you sane?
Quality time for myself.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hrm. Johnny Depp as always.

What political issue stirred you the most?
The hype about Sarah Palin. The onset of terrible economic times to come.

Who did you miss?
Not a lot of people surprisingly. Maybe a few old friends from overseas.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
Always look on the bright side of life! And never assume the worst from the people you love! *clicheclichecliche*

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"GIVE IT A LITTLE BIT OF VITRIOL!"

The most touching experience you've had this year?
Like, touchytouchy *OOH* or like, touchytouchy *AWW* ? o.O

What did you like most about yourself this year?
My learning curve gradient went up by leaps and bounds.

What did you hate most about yourself this year?
Like azra_il, I was nitpicky about a few things. The fact that I apparently am too hard on myself.
Was 2008 a good year for you?
It was amazing, if not amusing.

</lj></lj>

    <lj:music>The Cat Empire - Sly</lj:music>

So I realize I don't get to blog often due to the fact that the days worth blogging about usually involve copious amounts of alcohol, music and a (really) loose sense of consciousness. You can't really write about what you don't remember ;) However, blasted nights out on town, that's what good memories are made of!

Anyway, I went to The Vines gig last Saturday. It was awesome to say the least! The band has gone through tough times with the whole drugs issue and crappy live shows, but this show.. Man, it was put together solid! If it weren't for some genuine technical difficulties and the fact that the Metro is a tiny, un-fake-able performance venue, I might've just accused them of lip-synching. I for one, can't write a good music review because my inebriation and inert red-bull-like bloodstream drives me to dance, mosh and sing (kerplunk! epic fail!). In other words, I just totally lose it. I vaguely remember them having a bloody good rendition of the favorites, "Ride With Me", "Get Free" and "Highly Evolved" (really, shit you can't screw up if you're supposedly making a comeback!) Some new songs from the album "Melodia" weren't bad either, a bit slow sometimes, but otherwise, still The Vines for you!

Prior to the gig, we went barhopping because the lines to the Metro were too long still. Eventually we got in, and bumped into friends of a friend and had a random jolly time talking about random jolly shit. These girls were crazy, one of them accosted a photog and we ended up having our photo taken for some music website whoot! I ended up getting lollies from younger boys, and feeling quite terrible because I got one of them to drink from the tip jar... accidentally. Go figure lol. Wolf and Cub was the second band to open for the Vines, totally missed the first one, I don't even remember who they were.

*************
On that musical note, I is totally diggin The Cat Empire and Steely Dan nao. :)

Hello, where did my font face go? o.O I haven't blogged in ages.

Anyway, I just want to say "Oooooooooooh".

It's Friday pee-em. It's Halloween. I'm home. I don't have any impending chores or homework to do nor any ghoulish gangbang to attend. It's quiet, serene and ironically sunshine-y because of trippy Australian weather. Normally, I'd be out celebrating the event with a few dress-up parties, some glitter, glamour and claws. But lately, I haven't been in the mood to dress-up so much, nor go out. I'm either too tired, too old, or simply to damn chubbikins to fit into anything remotely interesting to pass as a Halloween outfit (I'm not just talking about the girly go-to Catwoman/Ho-bag costumes here!) The last fancy dress party I went to, I decided to be a smart-ass and dress up as a "premature ejaculation". That being said, I simply came in my pants. (Feel free to laugh at the lame joke.)

It's a Friday night. It's Halloween. And here I am having a quiet night at home. "Ooooooooooooh." This is all so new and exciting for me.... *sigh*

********************

I'm tempted to install those Logitech speakers in my room. Never mind that I don't have an iPoo or a desktop, I'm sure my tiny widdle mp3 and my domestic violence victim laptop will be happy to have their voices heard.

*******************

I is watching "The Happening" right now.
Ooooh I went to the Engineering Ball last Friday and it was teh awesome-ness! It's been a busy week so I haven't been able to blog about it just yet. It was a great event to cap off a relatively great year! I hope next year's ball will be just as good, if not better! I'll be serving as secretary for 2008 and I'm hoping we can further improve everything next year. The future executive team looks promising and dedicated enough! So yeah.. we should be cool. *cross fingers*

Check out that gas mask y'all! I even have an ASIMO lanyard to prove it! Mwahahha. He can run about 6mph and shifts his center of gravity like we humans do. He can recognize people with certain tags and can mimic actions. All in all, it's like OMGMOMMYIWANTONE. I wish I can work on something like this some day soon...

***************************

Augh in other news, I'm sore, but not as sore as I expected. I stacked it a lot in capoeira yesterday. On the bright side, at least I'm improving despite the fact I still can't cartwheel for shit. It's oh so dark and gloomy outside. I'm just passing time till I get picked up for welding classes. Today's my last day I think. :p I might sign up for a TAFE course next sem!

I may or may not have passed Fundamentals of Mechanics, but it's actually a subject I wouldn't mind repeating. *gasp* Failure is indeed something I am coming to terms with.

I am now going to attempt to put more work in the workshop for the FSAE car. It's kinda cool how I'm not so car-savvy just yet, but I still get to do some stuff here and there. So much fun! I really hope it turns out well down in Melbourne this year. Whoot.

I also need to put in more shifts at work. I changed jobs by the way, I no longer work in the food industry or the furniture shop. I've switched to fashion retail -- which is weird considering I have questionable fashion sense because I'd choose 'comfortably quirky' over 'stylishly chic' any given minute.

I hate that word, 'chic'.
Today I completed my collection of 100 Bullets. I feel fulfilled, but my wallet doesn't >.< Nic, thanks for the 9th volume! :p Future Sight came out too, but I'm not too interested at cards at the moment. Starcraft II caught my eye, who wants to play with me?

Also, to that person who probably doesn't read my blog, I'm sorry for today. I wish you all the best. Whatever happens, you're still a great person in my book, if not, even greater. You WILL get through this, YOU MUST, therefore, YOU WILL. ((Only because I can't imagine life without your friendship.))

*****
Work update:

Advanced section of that Car Racing program for OOP.

Crazy Mathematica Maths HW.

Prelab and HW for Physics.

Not bad I say, considering last week's load. I need to update more often, but life is just getting way too fast for my liking. At the moment, all I want to do is lay in bed and.... ohicantotallythinkofsomanythingslike--SLEEP.

Is HEROES last episode out tomorrow?
Whoa. Haven't blogged in a bit, again, so much for New Year's Resolutions.

It's been really busy the past month, what with Nicholas' surprise birthday and all. [March 31st, Hog's Breath, Castle Towers]. Phone bill rose up because of that. It was a challenge getting in contact with most of his friends on such a short notice, considering the fact that he's with me 24/7. I had to keep hiding my phone and pretending I was talking to the Socialist group (long, winded, uninteresting story). Ehh, it went well anyway. Joyjoyjoy! :p BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY NIC!!!

Reading an old comic series now, 100 Bullets. Brian Azarello, good stuff man! It's addicting to read. I'm spending hard-earned work money on these things rather than feeding my sorry fat ass. [Which is win-win for me, less food, more read. The conspiracy will shroud my hunger.. Yes, yes it will!] Also, picked up watching Ouran Boys Host Club [kazeyumi, now I know where your userpic came from] and Welcome to NHK. Hilarious anime, these things get better and better each generation, satirising themselves and just making a total joke out of storylines and stereotypes. Way to go! Btw, Welcome to NHK for me, is like, the anime version of Fight Club, all the conspiracy, with a different take on the split personality angle. It's an acid trip waiting to happen. HUWATCH EET NAO.

Random Blurbies:

Been playing less MTG lately what with school and all, but getting more decent with each game. Had a bunch of friends over for pizza and games, that went well. (Ugh, I must sounds really geekious now.)

I have a new American-exchange student friend named Mark, who got tricked into renting a cockroach infested apartment. But man can he cook. Met him when he approached Nic and I at the cardshop. I used to think he was quite detached, but he seems to warm up more nowadays. Don't know much about him aside from some random relationship facts, his gameskillz, mathskillz and his bafflement at the lack of applesauce in Australia.

Now I want to study abroad, preferably in the engineering mecca in Sweden, Denmark or Netherlands. Cool, ja?

Picked up Guildwars. I still prefer WoW though, but Guildwars is free and commitment less!

I <3 Scissor Sisters.

Bought another Paul Frank jacket. It's Yakuza themed, with an embroidered koi in front. Sweet! :p

Watched 300 for the second time (this time in the cinemas) and a really rude bogan (white trashy type) lady took my seat and refused to move. She told me to "sit my ass down" somewhere else. Took it to management and they asked her to move. She was like "YOU'RE DEAD bitch" at me. So cousin and I swapped seats and he sat beside her and she chucked wet salivafilled popcorn at him. How immature. She had issues, I wanted to laugh at her, but was too annoyed to do so.

Attended some Women in Engineering workshop today that should enable us with skills to talk to high school students about us, and how we cope in a male-dominated industry/course. Met some really interesting people. Sweet! Looking forward to being active in this.

kkthxbai.

"Our bees will block out the sun" "Then we will hug in the shade"
...
...
...
"BRUSH YOUR TEEEEEEEEEEEETH!"
